The Stack

Seven Layers, One Shared Foundation

Each layer is a distinct responsibility. Together they describe how structured information could move from a business record to a person, a search engine or a machine.

The Seven Layers

Some layers are demonstrated today. Others describe the longer-term architecture and are labeled as such.

  1. LAYER 02

    Identity and Governance

Unique identities, ownership, claims, verification, permissions, provenance, moderation, version history and audit trails.

Verification and governance are capabilities being developed. They are not universally operational across the network today.

  2. LAYER 03

    Knowledge and Relationships

Connections among businesses, locations, categories, services, communities, counties, states, content and other entities.

  3. LAYER 06

    Distribution Surfaces

Information, storefronts, reviews, savings, happenings, featured content, promotions, advertising, browsing, organization and activity flows.

  4. LAYER 07

    Search, AI and Agents

Human discovery, machine-readable information, AI visibility, agent access and future authorized actions.

A nationwide agent-action infrastructure is part of the longer-term architecture, not a completed production capability.
